Model with different LOD

Cadeosys prepare BIM modelling in different LOD

The Level of Development (LOD) requirement is a reference that allows consultants in the AEC Industry to stipulate and express with a high level of precision for the content and reliability of Building Information Models (BIMs) at several phases in the design, modelling and especially in construction process.

The LOD specification develops the basic LOD definitions developed by the AIA for the AIA G202-2013 Building Information Modelling procedure porm and is prepared by CSI uniformat 2010. It describes and demonstrates characteristics of model elements of different building systems at different LOD’s. This clear diction permits model authors to define what their models can be trusted on for, and permits downstream users to clearly understand the usability and the confines of models they are receiving.

Principal Objectives

  • To help teams, including owners, to stipulate BIM deliverables and to get a clear depiction of what will be comprised in a BIM deliverable
  • To support design managers explain to their teams the information and detail that needs to be provided at numerous points in the design process
  • To deliver a standard that can be referenced by contracts and BIM execution plans.

LOD – Level of Development

Full form of LOD is  Level of Development or some says Level of Detailing. There are total 5 different levels categorized by the A IA (American institute of Architects) i n B IM Procedure (E202).
